Fic Rec

...because good fic shouldn't be ignored just because it's overtaken by canon.

I've just come across a_t_rain's Through the Vanishing Cabinet, and What Montague Found There. It was posted in June and is therefore not HBP-compliant, but I know the quality of a_t_rain's writing so I was more than happy to have a look. My faith, unsurprisingly, was rewarded. This is the kind of fic that makes me wish I was a Niffler - rarely do I find a fic that is anchored firmly in canon while giving it brilliant inventive twists, that moves me as well as making me laugh aloud, that is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking. Go read it (especially if you're a genfic fan) - you won't regret it.
