So, 13th July 2007 is the release date.
I can't help wondering how close that will be to Book 7, given the rumours that it will be out next year, and that the previous books have come out in June or July. I'd hate for the book and the film to come so close together - Book 7 is going to be The major HP event, and it could totally swamp OotP. But OotP could be the last time we see Lucius on film (and I'm really looking forward to that fight scene). I'd like time to enjoy them both fully, which for me means AT LEAST two or three months between them.
I'm hoping that Bloomsbury and WB will think that they'll both make more money by separating the release dates and milking the hype for as long as possible. As WB have to recoup their production costs, I'd expect to see OotP come out first, which would give Bloomsbury a chance to piggyback on the interest to encourage as many people as possible to catch up on the story so far by buying the first six volumes in audio or book form or whatever else they can think of.
Oh well, at least there's a chance of warm weather for the movie premiere. I hope JI makes it along this time...
