Yeah, I'm a little late to the party. But the list is still growing fast, and after scanning 64 pages of it there were a few of my favourites still unmentioned.

So I've added:

Halrloprillalar's Blood Will Tell (can't believe no one had mentioned that... which possibly means I didn't spot it. But 'twas an honest mistake if so)

[livejournal.com profile] alchemine's June Week

[livejournal.com profile] fyrie's The Chronicles of Lucius

[livejournal.com profile] deralte's Uric the Oddball and the Wild Hunt

Morrighan's The Long Road to Damascus

[livejournal.com profile] pigwidgeon37's Full Circle

And, because not all my favourite [livejournal.com profile] kennahijja fics have been listed, I added:
Kings of the Wheel
To Serve in Hell
Tales From the Brute Squad
and Remuneration

ETA Have added:
[livejournal.com profile] inell's A Fresh Start
[livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian's Like the Finest Gold and The Palmer Method
Emily Anne's Christmas on the Dai Llewellyn Ward and Prelude to a two-step
[livejournal.com profile] narcissam's 1975

If you think any of these fics are worthy of inclusion in the masterlist, do follow the links to add your vote - or if you haven't browsed the list yet, the first installment is here, and the second (if you want to nominate a fic) is here.

Having said that, I'm not so sure that this method of compiling a list can really work for finding the best fics. If the number of votes needed to qualify is relatively low, the list will be flooded by fics for popular pairings that may not actually be so well written - but if the bar is set high, fics from minority areas of the fandom won't get a look-in. Seems to me that it's best for each ship (and non ship) community to make its own list and for the masterlist to link to it... but I look forward to seeing the list once it's compiled.

Some of you may remember that I had the mad idea of getting a group of HP fans together for the North York Moors Railway Wizard Weekend (NYMR being where Hogsmeade station was filmed for the PS movie) this coming Halloween. Some of you signed up, some of you probably thought 'not in a million years', some knew you wouldn't be able to make it, and others maybe thought that it sounded fun but nine months was too far in advance to plan anything.

If you're in the last category, now's the time to take out that thought and dust it off. The hostel is booked, I paid the deposit months ago, and I need to pay the balance by September. So far 13 people have signed up, plus a couple of possibles. There's room for 8 more.

So if you fancy a chilled out weekend in the country, a fandom gathering with time to play, time to talk and no pretence at academia - and the opportunity to surprise a few children with the presence of some adult witches and wizards, head on over here to sign up.

I'm asking for £10 deposit, and I'll need a balance of about £50 ideally by the start of September. (The exact amount will be determined once we've had some discussion of what we want to eat. The money will cover accommodation, food (which we'll have to share the making of and the train ticket - I'm not making any money off this and as I'm not exactly rolling in it myself I'd like to keep the costs reasonable.)
