Jobs seem to be like buses at the moment - I wait for months and then three come along at once. Well, sort of. I've been offered a half time admin job with a charity, but it's only verbal so far so I don't want to say much about that. And my CRB finally came through so I'm doing induction for the library next week (I'm hoping I'll be able to do some work for them when I'm not working the other job. And one of the organisations I volunteer with is starting to give me bits and pieces of paid work. So at last I'm in the position I was contemplating back in mid-2007: having a part-time job that (just about) covers the bills and leaves me with time to develop more around the edges. I'm going to have to really sort my paperwork out through else my tax return will be a complete nightmare!

So now my holiday is starting to feel more feasible, though I'll have to see what time they'd let me have off (not sure whether there's a no-holiday probation, but if their other staff have kids I hope they'll let me go in June/July and then work the whole school holidays, because Italy is likely to be far too hot to walk in much later than that).

So, having been visiting my parents for Easter, I took the opportunity of a London transit to pop into the Etruscan gallery in the British Museum (when I say 'pop' I mean peer at everything for over an hour and take loads of photos - one thing I love about free museums is that you can just go for a short time to see something specific rather than thinking you have to make a whole day of it), and then wandered over Stanfords' fine map emporium to drool over possible places to walk (and possibly infuriate the shop assistants by spending an hour trying to figure out which combination of maps covering different areas at different scales might work for the areas I might want to walk in).

The atmosphere around Covent Garden this evening was brilliant - probably helped by today being the first day this year I've actually felt coat-sheddingly warm. Wandering around Bloomsbury always gives me happy memories of preparing for Sectus (thankfully the stressedful memories are fading decently!) and gossiping over cake and coffee. I'd love to see some of my London friends more often - though it looks like lots of you are coming up to [livejournal.com profile] hp_uk_meetup in July. Looking forward to that. :)

Now, must get my workroom sorted so I can actually sort out a decent costume for once!
