So, here I am in the Elephant House, which claims a JKR connection, trying to warm up after seeing the first lot of horses processing up towards the castle. Thankfully I wasn't the only one sad enough to stand and watch, and they conveniently paused just before the Hub so everyone (except my friend and I, because neither of us have a camera, gah) could stand and pose in front of them. The kids looked almost as cold as I was, and there was an adult bloke in the second carriage who seemed somewhat embarrassed. Once they got going again some of the children waved, and several of us waved back. Might as well do our bit to make their night memorable...

I guess there must be a second lot, but we decided not to wait (thereby ensuring that JKR is probably about to turn up - but a warm-up is needed in preparation for the real business of book-queuing.)

Anyhow, the horses look pretty good, though it was a bit odd seeing black plumes on white horses and vice versa. And the castle (what little of it is visible from Lawnmarket) is all lit up with the beacons flaring. I hope they leave the Hogwarts decor inside up for a few days...

Ah, coffee. :)) I don't normally drink coffee at this time of night, but heck, I'm not planning on sleeping for a while.

This place shuts at 11 so that'll be our cue to go check out the queue parties down on Prince's Street. Unlike the States, where it seems to be the fashion to let the people in first and then bring the book out, here they leave us on the street - which seems bl**ody daft considering our climate. I mean, I know the British are supposed to like queueing, but personally I'd rather queue in the warm.

At least it's not raining (fingers crossed).

Okay, I'd better stop wibbling and be more sociable and let my friend onto this terminal and then go see if I can find a book to buy. :) And no, I don't have my cane with me though it's so damn cold in the wind that I wish I had my cloak. I do have my Slytherin brooch though - I'll be curious to see if anyone recognises it.
