Have you ever wandered into an art gallery, fallen in love with a picture and the very next day found yourself sitting next to the artist for six hours?

Happened to me today.

It was kind of freaky, but fascinating to get a chance to speak to him before I'd even had the chance to browse the net for more info on his work. I did my best to restrain myself from excessive fangirling - I'm not sure I succeeded, but I hope I managed to avoid stalkerdom.

I can't find an online copy of the picture in question (Oxford Road in Manchester Art Gallery) but there are some recent illustrations from a book he's collaborated on here, with my favourites being here and especially here. (I wonder how my flatmates would react if I put this up on my bedroom door? ;)

They should appeal to lovers of felines and social observation.

I'd love to buy a copy of the book but given that one website says that his work sells for £800-£1800, a limited edition book is probably beyond my barely-existant budget. Here's hoping someone will publish a more widely available edition.
