Happy New Year. :) Especially to those of you who are also having quiet evenings in tonight!
Like last year, I'm at home; this year I have my adoptive cat for company, who stared wide-eyed when the fireworks began but doesn't seem unduly alarmed.
I had a lovely week in the country - as we wended our way north on twisty slushy roads my Mum reflected that the conditions showed she'd never want to live somewhere that remote. All I could think of is I would...
My ideal New Year would be spent in a country cottage with a few good friends. I've been fortunate enough to have that a few years; but perhaps what I really need is to find a more rural place to live so that I can hope to tempt some friends to visit me. It's not unfeasible to move there from here, if only I can get a job. Must get onto that - I've been feeling low these last couple of days and have had to force through that to unpack and try to get on top of things without sinking into fandom addiction. My soul is itching to stretch wings, take a trip, to learn something new... but to do that I need to get some kind of income that covers my expenses. Meanwhile I guess I'll have to scrape up some basement-clearing energy so I can sort out a study/workroom upstairs where I can get on with all the creative things I already have materials and ideas for.
For now, though, I'm going to head to bed so I can get up and go for a walk tomorrow. Goodnight!
