More movie musings

Part of my procrastination last week involved wandering around a few sites browsing the latest gossip about the GoF film. Most interesting being the scan of a News of the World article (a rather large JPEG) featuring aerial shots of some of the sets (including the Bridge of Sighs in a rather more prosaic location than Glencoe, complete with bluescreen), and the IMDB trivia page noting that Mike Newell reckons that it’s all going to cost more than the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.

That strikes me as being a tad… excessive.


Anyhow, in the light of all the gurning about the cardboard nature of most of JKR’s villains, I’m idly wondering whether seeing Voldemort on screen will flesh out our view of him, just as Jason Isaacs’ interpretation of Lucius gave so many of us so much to obsess think about.

Ooooh, what beautiful demon-red eyes and bone-white nostril-slits you have, milord.

Hmm, maybe not.
