Beedle the Bard

fourth_rose has just pointed out that The Tales of Beedle The Bard are finally going to be published, on December 4th. That'll save me having to write my own versions, if I'm going to cosplay Beedle. I foresee myself doing a lot of memorising over Christmas!

It's not clear yet whether it will be typed or facsimile, but it will include the illustrations from the original. I'm guessing that it'll look like the schoolbooks? At least, the standard edition will. Amazon are also doing a collector's edition, which is a book with replica metal bindings and gemstones, inside a box shaped like a Hogwarts Library book.

For a mere £50. (gulp)

Still, it's for charity, right? And I didn't buy a ticket for the signed book at Accio, so there's at least £5 I can justify...

No, it's an essential cosplay prop, that's what it is.

But being exclusive to Amazon means it has to come through the door, not bought at a communal book launch party.... hmmm, maybe I'll just have to buy both editions, then I'll have one to write in...

ETA: Holy c***! The collector's edition is already 2nd in Amazon's sales rankings, with the std edition at 9!

Tales of Beedle the Bard collector's edition is currently first place in Amazon UK's bestseller chart. I wonder how long it'll take for it to sell out?

2nd place is held by the standard edition, pushing Chinese Food Made Easy into 3rd place. I'm not sure why that one was #1 in the first place - has there been an Olympics-related surge of interest in Chinese food? Or maybe a TV programme...? (Just looked at the reviews. Seems to be the latter, no doubt driven by the former.)
