I can't be the only one who has looked at the fanart inspired by other people's stories, and longed for someone to do one of my fics the honour but felt it utterly presumptious to express that desire when there are so few artists compared to the number of excellent writers... can I?
Well, today that dream came true - avicia made me Invictus fanart! She describes it as cover art, so it illustrates the overall mood of the first few chapters rather than any particular scene (I think). And does it very well, IMO.
(Incidentally, do any of you know whether it's possible to comment on deviantart without having an account? I couldn't find a link on the page.)
Speaking of Invictus, I'm uncomfortably aware that I said I'd have Chapter 16 out before Christmas, which has now come and gone while the chapter still languishes on my hard disk. Given past experience, I'm not going to make a new prediction, but it is almost done, I think, so I hope to send it to my wonderfully patient beta before long. I had hoped to finish it off at my parents house, but Invictus is really not the sort of thing I can write when having to keep the need to do an instantaneous window minimisation at the back of my mind. (Actually, I don't think I could write any fanfic like that.)

harry_holidays and saw my fic was posted, which made me bounce right out of writing mode - and of course I had to answer the comments. Thank you so much, ye who read and commented (including a couple of familiar faces. ;) It's the first time I've ever attempted something that set out to be humorous, and it was fun to feel freer than usual to dip into cliche. Including some gratuitous BDSM, which I've not attempted in public before, and can't bring myself to work into my more serious fic without tongue firmly in cheek.
