My friends, I bring you...

107 119 134 159 183 219 Genfics!

That's just an initial stab at seeing how the list might work - and of giving ourselves something to show for the last 33 hours - so please keep reccing and voting!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jetamors for pointing me to del.icio.us. As she warned, it's not pretty, but it seemed like the fastest way to get the list up and running and functional. The most annoying thing is that it shows the fics in the order they were added to the list - if anyone knows whether it's possible to make the fics show in alphabetical order, do tell! But it lets you browse by length (oneshot or chaptered), era, character, rating, genre or author, and though their search function itself seems somewhat sleepy you can search in more than one category by using the browser address bar, e.g.:

http://del.icio.us/hpgenfic/oneshot+Sirius_Black will get you all 16 oneshots featuring Sirius
http://del.icio.us/hpgenfic/oneshot+Sirius_Black+Severus_Snape gets you 2 oneshots featuring Sirius and Severus
http://del.icio.us/hpgenfic/Sirius_Black+Remus_Lupin returns 11 fics (chaptered and oneshots) with Sirius and Remus

Note that this only works if you use the tags I have used - but there's a list of them down the side of the page so it should be pretty straightforward if you want to have a play with it. If you just want all the fics featuring one character, just click that character's name on the list and, as if by magic...

I've been mulling over ways we could use this to build up the genfic community a bit, but my brain is a bit fried at the moment, so for now I'll just finish off with some numbers, just for the heck of it:

We took 33 hours to make 1015 comments out of which came 107 genfics by 78 authors, including 5 missing scenes and 19 humour fics.

Oneshots outnumber chaptered fics by 3:1 (though, of course, some oneshots are longer than others...)

Harry@Hogwarts is the most popular era, with just over half of the fics. Unsurprisingly, the runner-up is MWPPera, followed fairly closely by post-canon.

The most popular character is Severus Snape, followed closely by Remus Lupin, with Sirius coming in third.

After The Rain appears to be the Queen of genfic, with 8 fics on the list, followed by Lazy Neutrino with 4. A handful of others have 2 or 3 fics on the list.

The majority of fics are rated PG or PG-13, with 21 G and 9 R.

Ah, that reminds me. The tagging probably needs a bit of work - in particular I realise that there's an overlap between '1970s' and 'MWPPera'. Is it best to combine the categories or is helpful to have a separate MWPP category for those who are more interested in what's happening in the school than out of it? Perhaps those of you who spend a lot of time in that area of fandom could advise.

Also, I'm sure there are more humour fics in there - I tagged the obvious ones but I didn't have time to check and judge them all. So please comment here if you find a fic that should have a humour tag - or missing scene tag or a genre tag I haven't thought of. (Darkfic comes to mind, and politics, but I'd need some help with that!)

ETA I forgot to say last night... erm, this morning... that I was going by the author names given by the rec posts, as I don't know how all the LJnames/archive names match up. So if I've created two authors out of one, or used a non-preferred name, please let me know and I'll fix it.

Really finally this time, a great big Myspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter Graphics Myspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter GraphicsMyspace Glitter Graphics, MySpace Graphics, Glitter Graphics to every one of you - of us :) - who has got stuck into this.
